I love working at the edge of content industry innovation and building the passionate and diverse teams who make such innovation possible.

My career has taken in founding, growing and selling the digital content commissioning platform NewsFixed, cutting my editorial and content product teeth at the BBC World Service and The Hindu Newspaper Group in India and most recently spearheading an organisational shift towards consumer facing augmented reality content for British tech unicorn Blippar.

I am newsroom innovation chief at The Wall Street Journal, where I lead a team of developers to prototype new formats, features and tools.

I started off as a reporter in Hong Kong and spent 13 years with the Financial Times where I produced innovative, award-winning pieces of journalism such as The Uber Game.

I am also co-founder of The Contemporary Narratives Lab, which brings artists, journalists and researchers together to create new approaches to storytelling.

I am a reporter specialising in social news gathering, fact checking and breaking news. My interest in innovation, ethics and engagement brought me to Hacks/Hackers LDN, firstly as a volunteer and then as organiser.

I have worked for news agencies, fact checking organisations and am currently a member of the NBC News social media news gathering team.

I am Quartz's Talent Lab editor, working to recruit talent and help our global newsroom do its best work. My previous roles at Quartz involved working on our membership strategy and managing our news coverage from London.

Prior to joining Quartz in 2016, I was digital editor at Newsweek, and worked as a reporter and producer for the Wall Street Journal, and Thomson Reuters’ digital editorial teams in Johannesburg and New York. My passions are digital innovation, sustainability models for journalism, and helping early-career reporters and editors find their feet in the industry.

Hacks Hackers London was founded by Joanna Geary. Pete MacRobert was a co-organiser until 2015, Cassie Werber was a co-director until 2021
